Welcome to the Mismanagement

If you’re looking for a pristine gardening blog where everything is color-coded and the weeds don’t exist, you’re in the wrong place.
Back in early February, I had a plan. I had seeds, I had dreams, and I had a very clean pair of boots. Fast forward to now, and the boots are muddy, the plan has been rewritten about six times, and I’ve officially realized that "management" is a strong word for what’s happening in my yard (or my office, for now)
That’s how Mud & Mismanagement was born.
I’ve spent the last few weeks getting familiar with Oklahoma soil and tending to a brooder full of baby chickens. They’re safe inside for now, but I know it’s only a matter of time before they’re out there testing my fences (and my patience). Between the garden beds and the chicks, there's always something demanding my attention—usually right when I think I have things under control...

S/O to my soulmate Jake for building a brooder in a couple of hours - He is the real MVP. (He is currently working on fencing so the deer, the dogs, the millions of animals out in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma cannot get to my plants. )

This blog is a place for the real side of starting a garden from scratch. I’m not a pro, and I’m definitely not claiming to be. I’m just a "professional amateur" who isn't afraid to show the fails alongside the wins.
I’m also opening up a spot here called Dirt on Display. I don’t want to be the only one sharing the mess! I want to see your gardens, your stories, and your "what was I thinking?" moments too. Check out the section below to see how to send me your photos.
Thanks for being here. Let’s go see what else we can accidentally grow.
Interested in being featured in our Dirt on Display section?
Got a story? Send it over.
I’m looking for your best garden photos—whether they’re actually pretty or just pretty hilarious. If you want to share what you’re growing (or trying to grow), shoot me an email! I’d love to feature your projects here.
The Ground Rules:
Where to send: Hit me up at my linked email address.
The Goods: Send over no more than 4 photos at a time.
The Details: In your email, let me know the name you’d like me to use and where you’re from.
Writer’s Block?: If you aren’t sure what to say, don't sweat it. Just ask and I can help create a caption for you.
